Welcome:
Capital Area School of Practical Nursing currently
offers an accelerated nine-month program that is divided
into four quarters which must be taken in sequence.
This program consists of 868 theory hours and 462 clinical
hours, for a total of 1330 hours of instruction. Two
classes attend consecutively in the program. Nursing
theory hours are provided during the daytime hours,
while clinical rotations may take place during morning
afternoon or evening hours in order to provide optimal
learning experiences. Presently there are no weekend
clinicals or distance education nursing classes within
the program.
Students may enter the program in August or January
each year. Students entering school in August will graduate
in the summer, while students entering in January will
complete the program the following January taking a
summer break. The school closes for legal holidays,
and winter and spring break for approximately a week.
Upon completion of the program students receive a certificate
and are eligible to sit for the LPN boards and obtain
an LPN license with the State of Illinois. Our graduates
are successful.
